OUR STORY

From Healthcare to Homesteading

Married in 2007, I do not believe at the time that we ever had intentions of becoming farmers.  We were waist-deep in transition from medical school to residency and beginning our healthcare careers. 

However, as our family began to grow and our training and careers began to weigh on us, we yearned for

something more - something deeper - a different lifestyle to lead our children into.  An awakening arose - a desire for something different than "normal" - a desire to be more connected to the earth and to each other, to be better stewards of God's bountiful gifts all around us.

In 2019, we quite literally stumbled upon our property - getting turned around after church one Sunday, we came across a for-sale-by-owner sign, and despite what most would call crazy,

our dream was taking shape.

Awakening Farm was born, and along with it an arousing of a deep desire to steward well, to appreciate and cultivate beauty in nature, to instill a love for God's creation and responsibility to our children, and to hopefully provide the same to our community. 

It is an adventure for sure! We are learning as we go, growing together and loving this life. We have not given up on healthcare, as it too was a calling - but we look forward to sharing this adventure - this awakening - with you!
